COMMERCIAL POLICY > PRIVACY AND COOKIE POLICY

The purpose of this privacy policy is to provide maximum transparency regarding the information the site collects and how it uses it.

In compliance with the obligations arising from national legislation (Legislative Decree 30 June 2003 no. 196, Personal Data Protection Code, and subsequent amendments) and European legislation (European General Data Protection Regulation no. 679/2016, GDPR), this site respects and protects the privacy of visitors and users, making every possible and proportionate effort not to infringe the rights of users.

Specifically, this site does not display advertisements or use data for advertising purposes—if any. However, it uses third-party services to improve the site experience. These third parties may collect user data and then use it to send personalized ads on other sites. For example, the site sometimes uses YouTube videos, which are set to not send cookies (and therefore not collect data) until the user starts the video. You can see that instead of the video, there is only a placeholder.

The site also uses social plugins to simplify sharing articles on social networks. These plugins are configured to send cookies (and therefore potentially collect data) only after the user clicks on them.

For more information, please read the full disclosure below.

Full disclosure (privacy policy and cookie policy)

Legal basis for processing

This site processes data primarily based on user consent. Consent is provided via the banner at the bottom of the page, or through use or browsing the site, as a conclusive action. By using or browsing the site, visitors and users approve this privacy policy and consent to the processing of their personal data in relation to the methods and purposes described below, including any disclosure to third parties if necessary to provide a service. Additional consent forms related to the specific purpose of the service are collected through the communication or service request forms.

Providing your data and therefore consenting to data collection and processing is optional. Users may refuse consent, and may revoke consent already given at any time (via the banner at the bottom of the page, their browser's cookie settings, or the Contact Us link). However, refusing consent may make it impossible to provide certain services and may compromise the browsing experience on the site.

Purpose of the processing

The processing of data collected by the site, in addition to the purposes related, instrumental, and necessary to providing the service, is aimed at the following purposes:

– Statistics (analysis)

Data and information are collected exclusively in aggregate and anonymous form to verify the proper functioning of the site. None of this information is related to the individual user of the site, and does not allow for their identification in any way. Consent is not required.

- Safety

Data and information are collected to protect the security of the site (spam filters, firewalls, virus detection) and its users, and to prevent or detect fraud or abuse of the website. The data is recorded automatically and may also include personal data (IP address), which may be used, in accordance with applicable laws, to block attempts to damage the site or other users, or otherwise prevent harmful or criminal activities. This data is never used to identify or profile users and is deleted periodically. Consent is not required.

- Ancillary activities

Communicate data to third parties who perform functions necessary or instrumental to the operation of the service (e.g., comment boxes), and to allow third parties to perform technical, logistical, and other activities on our behalf. Providers have access only to the personal data necessary to perform their tasks and undertake not to use the data for other purposes. They are required to process personal data in accordance with applicable laws.

Data collected

This site collects user data in two ways.

- Data collected automatically

While users are browsing, the following information may be collected and stored in the site's server (hosting) log files:

- internet protocol (IP) address;
- browser type;
- parameters of the device used to connect to the site;
- name of the Internet service provider (ISP);
- date and time of visit;
- web page from which the visitor came (referral) and exited;
- possibly the number of clicks.

This data is used for statistical and analytical purposes, in aggregate form only. The IP address is used exclusively for security purposes and is not cross-referenced with any other data.

- Data provided voluntarily

The site may collect other data in the event of voluntary use of services by users, such as commenting and communication services (contact forms, comment boxes), and will be used exclusively to provide the requested service:

- name;
- email address.

Place of treatment

The data collected by the site are processed at the Data Controller's headquarters and at the data center responsible for data processing, which processes the data on behalf of the data controller. The data center is located in the European Economic Area and operates in compliance with European regulations.

Data retention period

The data collected by the site during its operation is retained for the time strictly necessary to carry out the specified activities. Upon expiration, the data will be deleted or anonymized, unless there are other purposes for its retention.

The data (IP address) used for site security purposes (blocking attempts to damage the site) are stored for 7 days.

Transfer of collected data to third parties

The data collected by the site is generally not disclosed to third parties, except in specific cases: legitimate request by judicial authorities and only in cases provided for by law; when necessary to provide a specific service requested by the User; or to perform security checks or optimize the site.

Transfer of data to non-EU countries

This site may share some of the data collected with services located outside the European Union, particularly with Google, Facebook, and Microsoft (LinkedIn) via social plugins and Google Analytics. This transfer is authorized under specific decisions of the European Union and the Italian Data Protection Authority, specifically Decision 1250/2016 (Privacy Shield - see the Italian Data Protection Authority's information page), so no further consent is required. The companies mentioned above guarantee their adherence to the Privacy Shield.

Cookie

This site uses cookies, which are text files that are stored on the user's terminal or that allow access to information on the user's terminal. Cookies store information about visitor preferences and are used to verify the proper functioning of the site and improve its functionality by customizing page content based on the browser used, simplifying navigation by automating procedures (e.g., login, site language), and finally, to analyze visitor use of the site.

This site uses the following categories of cookies:

- technical cookies, used solely for the purpose of transmitting electronic communications, to ensure the correct display of the site and navigation within it. Furthermore, they allow us to distinguish between different connected users in order to provide a requested service to the correct user (login), and for site security reasons. Some of these cookies are deleted when the browser is closed (session cookies), while others have a longer duration (such as the cookie required to retain the user's consent to the use of cookies, which lasts for 1 year). These cookies do not require consent;
- analytics cookies, used directly by the site operator to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site. They are considered technical cookies if the service is anonymized.
- profiling and marketing cookies, used exclusively by third parties other than the owner of this site to collect information on user behavior while browsing, and on interests and consumer habits, also for the purpose of providing personalized advertising.

By clicking OK on the banner displayed when first accessing the site or by browsing the site, the visitor expressly consents to the use of cookies and similar technologies, and in particular to the storage of such cookies on his or her device for the purposes indicated above, or to accessing information on his or her device via cookies.

Disabling cookies

The user can refuse the use of cookies and can revoke consent already given at any time. Since cookies are linked to the browser used, THEY CAN BE DISABLED DIRECTLY FROM THE BROWSER, thus refusing/revoking consent to the use of cookies, or via the banner at the bottom of the page.

DISABLING COOKIES COULD PREVENT THE CORRECT USE OF SOME FUNCTIONS OF THE SITE ITSELF, in particular the services provided by third parties may not be accessible, and therefore may not be viewable:

- videos from YouTube or other video sharing services;
- the social buttons of social networks;
- Google Maps.

Third-party cookies

This site also acts as an intermediary for third-party cookies (such as social media buttons), used to provide additional services and features to visitors and to simplify the use of the site, or to provide personalized advertising. This site has no control over their cookies, which are entirely managed by third parties, and does not have access to the information collected through these cookies. Information on the use of these cookies and their purposes, as well as how to disable them, is provided directly by the third parties on the pages listed below.

Please note that user tracking generally does not involve identifying the user, unless the user is already registered with the service and is also already logged in, in which case it is understood that the user has already expressed his consent directly to the third party when registering for the relevant service (e.g. Facebook).

This site uses cookies from the following third parties.

- Google Inc.

For information on how Google uses and processes data, we recommend reading Google's privacy policy and the How Google Uses Data When You Use Partner Sites or Apps.

- Google Analytics: used to analyze user use of the site, compile reports on site activity and user behavior, track how often users visit the site, how the site is accessed, and which pages are visited most frequently. This information is combined with information collected from other sites to create a comparative picture of site usage compared to other sites in the same category.

Data collected: browser ID, date and time of interaction with the site, referring page, IP address.

Place of data processing: European Union, as the anonymization of the service is active.

The data collected does not allow users to be personally identified and is not cross-referenced with other information relating to the same person. It is processed in aggregate and anonymized form (truncated to the last octet). Under a specific agreement, Google Inc. is prohibited from cross-referencing this data with data from other services.

Further information on Google Analytics cookies can be found on the Google Analytics Cookie Usage on Websites page.

The user can selectively disable (opt-out) the collection of data by Google Analytics by installing the appropriate component provided by Google on his browser (opt out).

Security measures

We process visitor/user data lawfully and correctly, adopting appropriate security measures to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, or destruction of data. We are committed to protecting the security of your personal data during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information in transit. Processing is carried out using computerized and/or electronic means, with organizational methods and logic strictly related to the purposes indicated. In addition to the Data Controller, in some cases, categories of persons involved in the organization of the site or external parties (such as third-party technical service providers, hosting providers) may have access to the data.

User rights

Pursuant to European Regulation 679/2016 (GDPR) and Article 7 of Legislative Decree No. 196 of June 30, 2003, the User may, in accordance with the procedures and within the limits established by current legislation, exercise the following rights:

- object, in whole or in part, for legitimate reasons, to the processing of personal data concerning him or her for the purposes of sending advertising or direct sales materials or for carrying out market research or commercial communications;
- request confirmation of the existence of personal data concerning him or her (right of access);
- know its origin;
- receive intelligible communication about it;

- the right to lodge a complaint with the Supervisory Authority (Data Protection Authority – link to the Authority's page);
- as well as, more generally, exercise all the rights recognized by the current legal provisions.

Requests should be addressed to the Data Controller.
